Anne Rice's Interview with a Vampire

Anne Rice's Interview with a Vampire is interesting but it's not something I would normally read. It’s very wordy in my opinion explaining topics or points that normally wouldn’t be necessary to be explained. It feels more like a drabbled writing that is pieced together than something that is solid.

The story questions vampires and wonders it left me wondering just what the moral line was and where to draw it. Like Claudia who was stuck in a 5 year-olds body for the entire amount of her life the thought of it is devastating and got me questioning just what is too much. The whole eternal life doesn’t seem all its cut out to be when viewing it as you get stuck when you were turned. It’s more like a curse like this then an actual blessing that some would think it to be.

Watching your friends and family die off would leave a huge metal scar on anyone numbing them to nothing. It’s great for character development though as it adds tons of awful dramas to shape and mold the characters into the dark and dramatic vampires we have come to know and love. It really helps sell the whole sad anguish driven vampire theme.

I see a lot of films and books that playoff this concept all well worked, just as Anne Rice's Interview with a vampire is. In my own opinion, this is one of her stronger works and is way more put together then her Frankenstein’s story as that was just awful and felt more like a child’s fanfiction than a literary achievement. I Love this style of writing for Anne’s work as you get to experience the story for yourself, like an uncovering of the work. It gives you a place and a purpose within the framed story. It’s easier to update to the times as well and relate it to newer and more constant themes that the world is facing and exploring.
